Rosso Pompeiano – Pompeian Red

The Museo Nazionale Romano hosts an exhibit about pictorial decoration in the area of Mount Vesuvius, known to the public as Pompeian pictorial art. In the collective imagination, the famous color “Pompeian Red” is evocative of ancient paintings, seen as the ostentation of richness often recreated in Patrician homes. On display are many frescoes from the Roman houses in Pompeii, Stabia and Herculaneum. This is a rare chance for fans and scholars alike.

 "A Different Beauty”: Francesco Furini

Francesco Furini was a “master of the 17th century in Florence” and a master of Classicism. This exhibition at the Pitti Palace is the first international exhibition dedicated to an artist of the Florentine 17th century. Furini is known for detailing a unique form of timeless beauty with the “classical” nude. This show truly lets the visitors into the complexity of his various works, especially his greater works, which are the ones that have been chosen. Many frescoes, drawings, a small group of 38 paintings, etc., will be on display coming from many well-known Italian and Foreign museums.

The Venice Carnival is a two week event full of festivities taking place all throughout the historical center of the city of Venice.  For more than 200 years, Venice has been the prime place for extravagant parties, celebrations, and revelry. For over 20 years now, Venice has been welcoming masqueraders, visitors and tourists who want to play and to liven up the closing days of winter.  So, the districts of Santa Croce, Cannaregio, Castello, San Marco, Dorso Duro, and San Paolo will be filled will costumes, music and celebrations, as well as performances and dance – all along the canals to celebrate and rejoice in the merriment of "Carnevale".

Bologna - Museo d’Arte Moderna - Through February 3, 2008

The works of four contemporary Italian and international artists are on display through February 3 at the Museo d’Arte Moderna in Bologna: Adam Chodzko, Eva Marisaldi,  Diego Perron,  Bojan Sarcevic. The exhibit focuses on experimentation and search with new. The works on display in this venue – previously a bakery – force the visitors to interact with the environment, one which hosts the pieces in unexpected ways, and to bring them back into their everyday life.
